According to reports, the Chicago Cubs
have signed 16-year-old Dominican outfielder Eloy Jimenez
to a $2.8 million bonus and a $250,000 college scholarship. Jimenez is considered one of the top prospects and was demanding the highest signing bonus. The Cubs said he has reported to the Cubs new academy in La Gina.
The 6-foot-4 205-pounder is trained by Amauris Nina and projects as a corner outfielder with plus power and good speed. Here's a scouting report and video of Jimenez
The signing puts the Cubs over their pool allotment and on Wednesday night, Jimenez's agent was denying reports that he had signed.
