Diamondbacks Select Bradley at No. 7

2011 QB commit and baseball star Archie Bradley

NORMAN, Okla. -- The Sooners have been dealt a heavy blow from the MLB Draft, as the Arizona Diamondbacks selected 2011 Broken Arrow football and baseball standout and OU commit Archie Bradley with the seventh overall pick.

That just might bolt him to play professional baseball, foregoing his potential college career.

The 6-foot-3, 220 pound hurler was a force his senior year with a 12-1 record and a 0.29 ERA, so saying he was dominant throughout this year and his entire high school career would be an understatement.

Bradley has a mid-90s fastball and good off speed stuff, which paved the way for him to record 14 strikeouts in a Class 6A State Championship victory.

He even touched 100 mph in the championship game, so he can bring it.

And the three-star quarterback and 53rd overall QB from the 2011 class has been known to have the capability of throwing a 70-yard pass on the gridiron, impressive for an incoming freshman.

Bradley was projected to go in the Top 10, and that's just where he ended up.

He committed to the Sooners back on June 8, 2010, the same date OU also received a commitment from Duncan High School offensive tackle Dylan Dismuke.

Now, the Sooners will await Bradley's decision.
