At the time of Parra's promotion to the big leagues on May 12th, he was third in the Southern League with a .361 batting average, first with a .469 on-base percentage, tied for second with 22 walks, and tied for third with 23 runs scored.
Parra once again played exceptionally well in big league camp, going 12-for-30 with two homers, two doubles, seven runs scored, and 7 RBI (.400/.455/.667)
<2008
Gerardo Parra had a fantasic winter. He paced Venezuela in hits (81) and doubles (20), plus finished runner up with 15 steals. The 21-year old prospect also finished among the top 10 in the league with a .329 batting average, a .404 on base percentage, 39 runs scored, and 44 RBI.
In the postseason, Parra batted .394 with three homers.
