2009
Marte struggled in the States last year (.251/.324/.330) after having dominated in the DSL (.328/.377/.475) in 2007. An arm injury may have contrbuted to the reduced output. Marte began 2009 in South Bend.
2008
Marte was perhaps the best Diamondbacks prospect in the DSL last year. Had he not suffered a right arm injury this spring, he would have likely began the year in South Bend. He is very strong and shows surprising plate discipline.
