Layne was successful both as a starter and as a reliever in south Bend, so he could be used in either role with the Rawhide.
2008
A 26th round draft pick out of Mount Olive Colorado, southpaw Thomas Layne led the Pioneer League with 31 July strikeouts, and managed nearly three strikeouts for every walk he allowed. He did give up 94 hits, nine of which left the yard, in his 79.2 innings last year.
The sinkerballer is being used in the bullpen to begin 2008 after pitching as a starter for most of his career. |
