Matt Antonelli hit .196 across 59 games with the Portland Beavers. He went 37-for-189 with 11 doubles, two triples, four homers, 25 runs scored and 22 RBI. He posted a .300 on-base percentage with a 26-to-30 walk-to-strikeout ratio. He stole one base in two attempts and committed three errors in the field. He hit .264 in 53 at-bats with runners in scoring position and grounded into four double plays.
2008
Antonelli hit .215 with 97 hits in 451 at-bats with the Portland Beavers. He collected 19 doubles, four triples, seven homers, 62 runs scored, and 39 RBIs. He also drew 76 walks compared to 86 strikeouts for a .335 on-base percentage and stole six bases in 10 attempts.
Antonelli hit .193 with 11 hits in 57 at-bats with the San Diego Padres. He collected 2 doubles, 1 homer, six runs scored, three and RBIs across 21 games. He also drew 5 walks compared to 11 strikeouts for a 292. on-base percentage.
2007
He was invited to play in the Arizona Fall League after the year.
Antonelli hit .314 with 109 hits in 347 at bats for the Lake Elsinore Storm. In 82 games he collected 14 doubles, four triples, 14 homers, 54 RBIs and 89 runs scored. He also drew 53 walks while fanning 58 times and was 18-for-24 in stolen base attempts. He sported a .409 on base percentage, used primarily as a leadoff hitter. Antonelli did have 12 errors playing second base.
Antonelli hit .222 with a .400 on base percentage, one RBI and seven runs scored over seven Missions playoff games.
2006
Matt Antonelli hit .286 with 54 hits in 189 at bats for the Eugene Emeralds, playing third base. In 55 games he collected 12 doubles, one triple, 22 RBI's and 38 runs scored. He also drew 46 walks, whiffed 31 times and was 9-of-10 in stolen base attempts. Antonelli placed second in the Northwest League with a .426 on base percentage.
Antonelli was promoted to the Fort Wayne Wizards on August 28 and went 2-for-16 over five games with two walks and six K's.

Antonelli was taken by the San Diego Padres in the first round of the 2006 MLB Draft, 17th overall. He received a signing bonus worth $1.575 million plus money to complete his education.
A native of Massachusetts, he hit .333 for the Demon Deacons in 2006, knocking 11 home runs and 18 doubles in 219 at-bats.
The 21-year-old was originally selected by the Dodgers in 2003, but opted to go to college. A true athlete, Antonelli was the Massachusetts Player of the Year in both football and hockey, and was a runner-up for baseball in his senior year at St. John's Prep. |
