Biography:

The disastrous Joey Batten-to-second-base experiment appears to be over. Not only did the diminutive Georgian struggle with footwork around the bag, but playing ther clearly affected his offensive output as well. Last season, he hit just .250 when he started at second base, but .311 in centerfield and a prodigious .426 in right.

He continues to struggle at higher levels, however, as his .645 OPS in Visalia got him sent back down to South Bend at the start of July.
