After an extremely disappointing .178 BA and .199 OBP in the hitter-friendle California League this year, Miller found himself part of a historic trade. Clay Zavada, a former D-backs draftee who played for the Southern Illinois Miners of an independent baseball league, cam eover for Miller in the first known trade between a major league team and an independent league squad.
