Burgess repeated Hi-A last year primarily to allow both himself and Cesar Nicholas to learn third base, new positions for them both. He's excited to be reunited with field manager Hector de la Cruz in 2008, whom Brandon credits for his improvement in third base defense.

On May 16th, the oft-hit Burgess had his left ring finger broken by a thrown ball. He was placed on the disabled list May 28th and remained there until July 3rd. Prior to the injury, Burgess was hitting .213 with two home runs and 15 RBI in 35 games.
