Biography:
Though Brashear was a 25th-round draft choice of the Anaheim Angels in the 2003 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft, he elected to go to Ole Miss and continue his education, and baseball career, there. The Diamondbacks scooped him up in the 44th round of the '06 draft, one of six catchers taken by the D'Backs that year. He served as the third catcher for the Silver Hawks to begin 2007, but has gotten the bulk of the plating time behind the dish after a hot start to May.
