| Biography: |
| The Diamondbacks made two notable off-season moves, adding Davis and Randy Johnson to their pitching staffs. While Johnson has certainly made a bigger splash Davis is actually the safer bet. He is nearly 10 years younger than Johnson, with a less injury prone history and a perfect repetoir for Chase Field, as his sinking fastball should be able to keep the ball in the park. Davis will, along with Johnson and Livan Hernandez, have a legitimate claim to the #2 spot in the rotation, but perhaps his greatest strength will be simply to keep throwing. Like Webb and Hernandez, Davis has thrown more than 200 innings in each of the last three seasons, and that ability to eat innings is what made the Johnson trade possible, since Randy can't really be counted on because of injury. |
