Biography:
After missing a full season with knee and back problems, and flirting with the Atlanta Braves, Robbie Hammock is back in the Diamondbacks organization, and for the time being at least, back behind the plate. Though his small frame still profiles better as a utility man, Hammock could still easily fill that role, particularly if Koyie Hill clears waivers and returns to the Sidewinders this season. For the immediate future however Hammock will likely be the backup backstop, see time at third base, left field, and right field, not to mention a peek or two at the second base position. The Diamondbacks are loaded with scrappy utility guys, but it's hard to have too many of those, so the 23rd round pick in 1998, and fan favorite, will try to prove he's still got the skills to get back to the bigs.
