BIO:Troy Edward Glaus...he and his wife, Ann, have made the move from Southern California to Phoenix...Troy was a '94 graduate of Carlsbad (CA) High School where he was a 4-year letterman and earned Mizuno, USA Today and Collegiate Baseball All-America first team honors during his senior season...he was chosen All-League and All-CIF after his junior and senior campaigns...he was named the league MVP, while leading his club to the league championship during his junior season... he established school records with 20 career homers and a .732 on-base percentage...Glaus was originally selected by the San Diego Padres in the second round (37th overall pick) of the 1994 First-Year Player Draft...he was the highest unsigned draft choice, instead electing to attend UCLA...following three years as a Bruin, he was the third overall pick in the 1997 First-Year Player Draft and was signed by Angels' scout Darrell Miller...Glaus enjoyed a stellar collegiate career at UCLA, compiling a .344 batting average (240-for-697) with 211 runs, 39 doubles, 2 triples, 62 home runs, 180 RBI and 24 stolen bases in 179 games spanning 1995-97...he led the Bruins to the 1997 College World Series during his junior season, hitting .409 (108-for-264) with 100 runs, 15 doubles, 1 triple, 34 homers, 91 RBI and 10 stolen bases while reaching base safely in all 67 games he played in...he was the Pac-10 Player-of-the-Year, earned All Pac-10 honors for the second consecutive season and was named a First Team All-America by Baseball America...he was named to the All-Midwest Regional Tournament team after hitting .375 (15-for-40) with 12 runs scored, 3 doubles, 1 triple, 2 homers and 7 RBI...he hit .300 (3-for-10) with 2 homers and 3 RBI in a pair of CWS affairs in Omaha...Glaus established Pac-10 single-season records with 34 home runs, eclipsing USC's Mark McGwire mark of 32 set in 1984, as well as total bases (227)...Troy was the third player in the history of college baseball to amass 30 homers and 10 stolen bases in a season...he owns the UCLA single-season mark for runs scored while matching the record for career runs...Glaus was the starting third baseman for the 1996 U.S. Olympic squad that won the bronze medal in Atlanta, Georgia...he hit .342 (41-for-120) with 15 homers and 34 RBI for Team USA, including 4 home runs at Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium during the Olympic Games...Troy was also a member of the 1992 Junior Olympics bronze-medal winning team...off the field, Troy assisted with the Sertoma Fantasy Camp for hearing impaired children and supported the Olive Crest Home for abused children...he served as the guest host at the 10th Annual City of Orange Police Association Golf Tournament benefitting the multi-agency Bone Marrow Drive...he chaired the 2003 Great Strides Walk to benefit Cystic Fibrosis...in 1999, he participated in the Rod Carew "Friends of Kiley" event which raised $30,000 for an Anaheim police officer's sick child...Glaus was the 2002 winner of the Big League Home Run Challenge in Las Vegas, defeating the Diamondbacks' Luis Gonzalez for the title...Troy was a member of the MLB All-Star squad that toured Japan in the winter of 2000.
