| Bukvich, 26, appeared in nine game for the Royals last season, going 0-0 with a 3.68 ERA (3 ER/7.1 IP), one save and holding right-handed batters to a .167 batting average (2-for-12). He began the season with Triple-A Omaha, going 3-4 with seven saves and a 4.37 ERA in 38 relief appearances. The 6-2, 250-pound Bukvich, who earned his first career save on July 15 vs. Minnesota and did not allow a hit or a run in his first six outings (5.1 IP), has a career 2-0 record with a 6.54 ERA (31 ER/42.2 IP) in 44 games over parts of three Major League seasons with the Royals (2002-04). Originally drafted in the 11th round of the 2000 First-Year Player Draft, Bukvich has appeared 174 minor league games, going 8-9 with a 2.79 ERA (72 ER/232.0 IP) with 47 saves. |
