| Biography: |
| Chico has twice been a member of the Team USA junior team and signed with USC out of high school, even though he was drafted by the Red Sox in 2001. He became the first freshman to be the season openening starter under USC coach Mike Gillespie. But in year two he failed to make the grades to play at Southern Cal. He then attendended Palomar JC but again grades became a problem. The Diamondbacks saw Chico playing in a SoCal weekend mens league in 2003, and couldn't resist taking a chance on the kid, taking him in the third round of the 2003 draft. |
