D-backs Prepare for Final Spring in Tucson

In less than three weeks, 17 non-roster invitees will accompany the Arizona Diamondbacks' 40-man roster to Tuscon for the team's final spring training there. Beginning in 2011, the D-backs will hold spring training within the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian community beginning in 2011.

PHOENIX -- Arizona Diamondbacks pitchers and catchers will report to Tucson, Az., on February 19. The first workout for pitchers and catchers will be on February 20, with the remainder of the squad scheduled to report on the 23rd and work out the following morning.

Along with the players on the 40-man roster that will be in Tucson, the club has announced the invitations of 17 non-roster players. The breakdown of invitees includes nine pitchers, three catchers, two infielders, and three outfielders.

The 2010 invitees include:

Right-handed pitchers: T.J. Beam, Josh Ellis, Barry Enright, Kyler Newby, Rodrigo Lopez, Wes Roemer, Bryan Shaw, and Matt Torra

Left-handed pitcher: Tom Layne

Catchers: Carlos Corporan, Sean Coughlin, and Konrad Schmidt

Infielders: Jeff Bailey and Mark Hallberg

Outfielders: Collin Cowgill, Evan Frey, and Drew Macias
