Reno Aces outfielder Brandon Watson has been named Pacific Coast League Player of the Week, the league office announced today. Watson became the first Aces player to hit for the cycle on Thursday.

Brandon Watson made Aces history last week, becoming the first player in franchise history to hit for the cycle on July 23 vs Portland. Watson singled in the first, tripled in the second, homered in the third, and doubled in the seventh to complete the cycle. In the eighth, Watson added another single for his fifth hit of the night. For the evening, Watson finished 5-for-6 with four runs scored and three driven in.

Entering play tonight, Watson has recorded a multiple-hit effort in five-straight starts. Over his last five starts, Watson is batting .667 (14-for-21), with thee doubles, a triple, two homers, nine runs batted in, and nine runs scored. He becomes the first player in franchise history to earn a weekly PCL honor.

This week’s PCL Pitcher of the Week was Nashville’s Tim Dillard, who threw a complete game shutout over Memphis on July 22.
