The left-handed Doug Slaten has appeared in seven games for Arizona this season. Over four innings of work, he gave up three runs and six hits with a walk and three strikeouts. While at Reno, Slaten went 1-1 with a save, a 3.60 ERA, eight strikeouts, no walks, and nine hits allowed.
Joshua Whitesell has played nine games for the Diamondbacks this year. He has just three hits in 26 at-bats, but also a double, five walks, and seven strikeouts. He had beentearing the cover off of Triple-A pitching prior to the callup.
In other news, RHP Jason Urquidez earned a promotion to Reno. He went 1-0 with a 3.15 ERA in 12 appearances with Mobile this season. Urquidez also spent time in Triple-A last year, going 1-0 with a 2.35 ERA in five relief appearances.
To take Urquidez' roster spot, RHP Ramon Sanchez has been promoted from extended spring training where he was recovering from reconstructive surgery on his right ulnar collateral ligament. Sanchez missed all of last season after going 2-2 with a 4.69 ERA in 39 relief apperances at South Bend in 2007. He notched five saves in six opportunities during the first half of the 2007 season, posting a 2.37 ERA in 30.1 innings.
