D-backs Ink Ojeda to One-Year Deal

PHOENIX -- The Arizona Diamondbacks have agreed to terms with infielder Augie Ojeda on a one-year contract, as announced by D-backs' Executive Vice President and General Manager Josh Byrnes. Consistent with team policy, terms of agreements were not disclosed.

Augie Ojeda, 33, played in 105 games for the D-backs last season, batting .242 (56-for-231) with 27 runs scored, nine doubles, two triples and 17 RBIs. He started games at second base, shortstop and third base in 2008, including 22 of the club's final 45 games at second base after Orlando Hudson's season-ending injury on August 9th.

In only his second full season in the big leagues (also in 2001 with the Cubs), Ojeda established a career high with six RBI on May 3 against the Mets, marking the seventh time in club history that a player had six RBI, also tying for the second-most by a D-backs second baseman.

Ojeda has played in 340 major league games over parts of seven seasons with the Cubs, Twins and D-backs, batting .235 (169-for-719) with 91 runs scored, 24 doubles, six triples, six home runs and 60 RBI.
