PHOENIX -- The Arizona Diamondbacks recalled catcher Robby Hammock, right-handed pitchers Billy Buckner, Jailen Peguero, and Leo Rosales, left-handed pitcher Doug Slaten, infielders Jamie D'Antona and Josh Whitesell,
and outfielder Alex Romero from Tucson (Triple-A), as announced by D-backs Executive Vice President and General Manager Josh Byrnes.
Hammock saw action in 16 games for the D-backs this season, batting .171 (7-for-41) with four runs scored, a double and two RBIs. He played in 62 games for the Sidewinders, batting .240 (52-for-217) with 29 runs scored, six doubles, two triples, five home runs and 27 RBIs.
Buckner pitched seven games for the D-backs this season, going 1-0 with a 3.60 ERA (4 ER in 10.0 IP) with two walks and eight strikeouts. Rosales appeared in 22 games in his big league debut this season, going 1-0 with a 4.01 ERA (11 ER in 24.2 IP) with 10 walks and 15 strikeouts. Slaten saw action in 38 games for the D-backs earlier this season, going 0-3 with a 4.30 ERA (14 ER in 29.1 IP) with 11 walks and 15 strikeouts.
D'Antona saw action in his first 12 Major League games this season, batting .182 (2-for-11) with a run scored. Romero also saw action in his first big league games this season, playing in 63 games, batting .244 (31-for-127) with 11 runs scored, eight doubles, two triples, a home run and 12 RBIs. Whitesell, acquired via waivers in during spring training from Washington, has never appeared in a big league game. He went .328/.425/.568 with 26 HR and 110 RBI at Tucson.
