BOCA RATON, FLA. - Right-handed pitcher (RHP)
Cesar Valdez of the Visalia Oaks in the Arizona Diamondbacks organization was selected as the
47th pick of the MLN FAB50 Baseball 2008 appearing
in the current edition of the digital magazine
MLN Sports Zone (SZ). The crafty righty may
not have the summer heat of a Max Scherzer
(MLN FAB50 Baseball No. 3), but he makes up for
it with a variety of clever pitches that kept batters in
the usually hit-happy California League guessing.
The hurler was joined today by SS/2B Pedro Ciriaco, who was named to the 2008 MLN
Ones2Watch, a list of the top twenty-five players in
the mid-to-lower classes of baseball with a projected time in the minor
leagues of 18 months or more.

"Our fifth anniversary of the MLN FAB50 Baseball rankings is by far our
best yet," said MLN Sports senior editor Brian Ross. "17 inch, screen-filling
photo layouts of the players accompany 50 feature stories written by the
best journalists on the minor league sports beat from coast to coast. Not
dry, dusty tools reports, but thought-provoking, challenging takes on fifty of
the hottest players in MiLB, or already moved up to MLB."
Mat Gamel, third baseman of the Huntsville Stars in the Milwaukee Brewers
organization, was selected as the no. 1 player in minor league baseball
for 2008 by the editors of Minor League News (MLN Sports).
