First baseman Bryan Byrne went 2-for-4 in the Southern League All-Star Game, crushing
two singles as he normally does. Shortstop Yunesky Sanchez ripped a double and later scored in his 1-for-4
outing.
The South’s lone run came on a Rusty Ryal sacrifice fly to drive home Sanchez.
The second baseman did not reach base in three plate appearances.
Brooks Brown pitched an inning in relief, but surrendered a solo home
run to
the Smokies’ Doug Deeds in the sixth inning. Abe Woody entered in the seventh
and
recorded two outs without incident.
