Medders Clears Waivers; Woody Returns to AA

Medders Clears Waivers; Woody Returns to AA

None of the other 29 teams were interested in Brandon Medders, as he has cleared waivers and reports to Triple-A Tucson. Abe Woody, who had been promoted to Triple-A earlier this season, returns to Mobile to make room for Medders.

Medders became the odd man out when Doug Davis made his triumphant return from thyroid cancer. He cleared waivers, however, and returned to the Sidewinders on May 31st. 2008 marked the third straight season that Medders broke camp with the big league club.

Abe Woody earned a promotion to Tucson in late April after posting a miniscule 0.61 ERA in eight games with the BayBears. He returned to Double-A when Brandon Medders cleared waivers and joined the Sidewinders May 31st. He went 1-1 with a 7.45 ERA in 10 Triple-A appearances. Recommended Stories
