Shappi Finally Advances to Triple-A

A.J. Shappi put up 2007 numbers that could have warranted a promotion to Tucson for the 2008 season. This year, he has put up numbers that the Arizona Diamondbacks organization could not ignore.

A. J. Shappi finally earns a taste of Triple-A after spending parts of three seasons in Double-A with the Mobile Baybears. His promotion comes after posting a 1.53 ERA through 29.1 innings with the Baybears this year. The 25-year old finesse pitcher also struck out 27 batters as compared to four walks.

It is a promotion we have been expecting for a while now in our weekly FutureBacks Power Rankings.

To make room for Shappi on the Sidewinders' roster, the organizstion demoted Chris Kinsey. Kinsey returns to Double-A after going 0-2 with a 7.89 ERA and 17 walks through 21.2 Triple-A innings. Recommended Stories
