Bill Murphy posted a 3.68 ERA in Tucson this year as both a starter and as a
reliever. He hadn't managed an ERA under 5.50 since coming over to the
Diamondbacks' organization in 2004. We asked the young southpaw what made
him so much more successful this season, and he gave a lot of the credit to
Minor League Pitching Coordinator Mel Stottlemyre Jr.
