Diamondbacks Audio: LHP Bill Murphy

Phoenix, Az-- 26-year old Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher Bill Murphy spoke with FutureBacks.com about a new pitch in his arsenal that helped him earn a promotion to the big leagues after having spent six years in the minors. Murphy also discussed what he will look forward to most in the majors and what he thinks the Diamondbacks' chances are in the NL West. (Audio available for premium subscribers)

Bill Murphy posted a 3.68 ERA in Tucson this year as both a starter and as a reliever.  He hadn't managed an ERA under 5.50 since coming over to the Diamondbacks' organization in 2004.  We asked the young southpaw what made him so much more successful this season, and he gave a lot of the credit to Minor League Pitching Coordinator Mel Stottlemyre Jr.
