First base is traditionally thought of as a major power source for a ballclub. This has rarely been the case with the Diamondbacks, as Tony Clark is the only snake first baseman to club 30 homers in a season. Looking at the potential first basemen of the future, the emphasis again is not on power, yet these boys look like they can rake.

Tony Clark himself looked as though he would be one of the best buys in all of baseball when he re-signed with the Diamondbacks for 2 years and $2 million in August of 2005.  He was in the midst of a season in which he would hit dingers at nearly the rate that Luis Gonzalez did back in 2001.  But injuries led him to a dreadful 2006 season, and he's even going to miss a chunk of 2007 with...
