Center field is a key position. It requires speed, instinct, and traditionally, the ability to lead off. While left field is often reserved for pure hitters (see Manny Ramirez), and the most important attribute for right field is a cannon arm, center field is the captain of the outfield. They say to be a good team you need to be strong up the middle. A center fielder can single handedly win games for his team defensively, and for the Diamondbacks in particular, there are huge shoes to fill.
