Last week Lancaster Bureau Chief Thomas Fitzgerald started off his regular
Saturday column, Fists of Fitz off with a bang, offering everyone the
chance to become a Yankee fan. We got some impassioned responses from our
readership, prompting the beginning of a companion piece on Saturdays, D'Backs
Feedback where we pick the best of the best letters and reprint them.
Anything is in bounds, be it Fitz's commentary, a D'Back & Forth, or
anything else you read on the site. Send all emails to FutureBacks@cox.net,
and please include your name (as you would like to see it printed), where you're
from, and a quick note letting us know it is okay to print your letter.
And just in case you were wondering, yes, Thomas got all your emails, and loved
everyone of them.
| Just remember Tom the Yankees are the
biggest chokers in the history of baseball.

Editor's Note: Simple and to the point, thanks Steve.
| It seems to me that the Yankees have no
farm system with any prospects at all. Or maybe George has too much pride
to see what he has going on. Are there scouts for the Yanks or do they
just go out and get more big money talent? Really, look at the
Braves, good solid talent and a great farm system, one of the best in the
big leagues. They are under the salary cap and don't have to pay the TAX.
I don't think George believes in His own Yankees farm system and coaching
staff.

A little more pointed, digging at one of the worst ranked farm systems in
the League.
Tom Fitzgerald column. On the Yankees. I
am certain that kind of rationalization is one way of dealing with the
humiliation of having executed the biggest choke of all time. Boring logic
and I just don't care. We in Boston are enjoying our World Series
Championship quite well. See ya on opening day!

I'm not exactly sure where Joe came down on this one, but I've got a
hunch...
| SEE YOU AT STAN'S...your Yankee fan rant
sucked. I can't wait to confront you [not so nice plural word]
in NY...I won the arguments before last year now I actually have
ammunition...Go Sox....biggest choke ever...Doug Brien...hee haw!
Mike Connor |
Not sure where "Stan's" is, but I'm guessing there aren't that
many Yankee caps worn there, bonus points for digging on the Jets and Yanks at
the same time!
| This is in response to your article
"Those Damn Yankees." I am a Yankee fan and have been
since the Dodgers went to LA, become a Yanks fan in defiance of my father
(Boston). That was an arrogant article, while it's is true that God
took day off when Boston won, they won't win again.
Their fans want it.
Their players want it.
But, their owners don't know which end to #@&^ out of. 'It'
being winning. I was walked into a bar in the Grand Canyon in 2003
to watch the NY/Boston playoffs, a Boston fan was there and he promptly
walked out once he found out I was a Yankee fan, I never said a word.
True story. If you wrote that story just to be sarcastic, the only
thing sarcastic was the D'Back fans when they won. Arizona played
real good, professional, baseball and well deserved the win, but their
fans...where the heck do they get the idea that they are a dynasty?
Are they doing some illegal substances? First, you have to have a
history to be a dynasty, even Boston has that (though they can't win).
IF they were a dynasty, the wouldn't have had a 111 game losing season,
bottom line. The Yankees basically can spend what they do because
they are in a big market, the stands are loaded with people, in short,
THEY ARE SUPPORTED.
I give all small market towns credit for succeeding, Twins, Oakland,
Marlins, even Arizona, except the fans, they need a reality check.
I think the D'Backs will be a better team this year with the moves that
they have made. I believe that Jeff Moorad might have put himself at
risk with the moves that he made. Aside from the on-field
performance of his acquisitions, I hope the fans support the team so
that they can stay competitive more than 1-2 years. I admit to
being a diehard Yankees fan but I like to see a good game. If fans
support the team the team can compete, I believe the Phoenix area has
enough fans to do so and they should.
Let the team be in a few more World Series (hopefully win some more)
before they are called a dynasty. Y'all did good to get one so
soon.
I am originally from Yonkers ,NY and came to work at the Grand Canyon
via Oklahoma from
2000-2004.Currently I reside in Farmington, NM.

Not as supportive as one would have thought, but still managed to dig on
the D'Backs fans, at least there is somebody out there NOT looking to beat
Thomas up.
| Every Yankee's fan expects to win it all
every year, yet more often than not they don't. Even winning 1 out
of every 4 years still means that 3 out of every 4 years the Yankees
failing to meet their expectations. In other words, 75% of the time
the Yankees are under performers, and 25% they are just being the routine.
I may not like the teams that win the most, but when my team beats your
it is meaningful. It means that my team played with heart. It
means that my team rose above their expectations. It means my team did
something magical.
I don't know why you care about baseball, why it has some meaning in
your life, but I know why it has meaning in mine: The magic.
So you can talk about how great it is to expect your team to go all the
way every year, but I will know how great it is to feel when no one
expects my team to win and they do it anyway. That feeling is truly
magic.

(Go A's and D'Backs!!!) |
Graham sounds a little depressed, but that might have more to do with
losing Hudson and Mulder than reading the article (don't worry, Billy Beane is
the only certified genius in MLB). And finally, our undisputed winner of
the week...
Tom Fitzgerald:
What the hell is wrong with you? I don't want to see any crap about allegiance
to the Noo Yawk F'n Yankees. I Hate the Yankees, always did and
always will. I would not cheer for them if they played the Kremlin,
or even the Osama Bin Laden All-Star team. Apparently, you spent too
much time in the Arizona sun getting your brain fried.
Admit it, Bronxman- you are still hurting from The WORLD CHAMPION
BOSTON RED SOX handing you your butt in the ALCS, and in the process
making your collection of has beens and steroid freaks owners of the All Time
Choke in sports history.

Thomas and Howard are meeting for beers about 6:00 pm tonight, currently
Vegas has Howard knocking Thomas out in the 6th round, place your bets...
