When the 'Three Amigos,' Carlos Quentin, Connor Jackson, and Jaime D'Antonia,
were all promoted to the AA El Paso Diablos at midseason it seemed as if the
Lancaster Jethawks offense might have lost all its thunder, but with the signing
and assigning of Jonathon Zeringue to the Jethawks this week the Jethawks hope
they have found another monster bat.
At LSU Zeringue, an outfielder the D'Backs took in the 2nd round of the 2004
1st Year Player Draft, demonstrated the bat speed and power that many feel will
translate into big home run numbers. In his first appearance as a pro
Zeringue went 2-4 with a double, an RBI, and a stolen base to help the Jethawks
to a 4-3 win.
The Jethawks have started the 2nd half with nine wins in eleven games, and
have run their season record to a fantastic 53-29 mark. With Zeringue now
in the fold along with standouts like Steve Garrabrants and Jay Garthwaite the
Jethawks show no signs of slowing down, despite losing five of the D'Backs top
twenty-five minor league prospects in the last three weeks.
